Cameroon: A Young Initiative to Promote Road Safety
Douala, January 13, 2025
A new road safety awareness campaign is causing a stir on Cameroon’s social networks. Spearheaded by a group of young activists, the “Sauver des Vies” initiative aims to reduce accidents involving two-wheelers, which are very popular in cities like Douala and Yaoundé.
Using short videos, striking illustrations and moving testimonials, the collective encourages young people to wear helmets, obey traffic lights and avoid speeding. Local influencers are also supporting the campaign, multiplying prevention messages on Instagram and TikTok. “We want to remind people that every life counts, and that a simple gesture, like wearing a helmet, can save lives,” explains Sarah, one of the organizers.
The campaign has already generated a great deal of interest, inspiring other young people to get involved in similar causes. A fine gesture of solidarity and collective responsibility for a safer future in Cameroon.
